Looks like Whole Foods is back in the news—and this time, Amazon has nothing to do with it.
The grocery giant sent shoppers a recall alert for approximately 404 pounds of “buffalo style chicken salad” for actually being … tuna salad.
How do you know if your salad is included in the recall? If it’s in a 12.5-ounce plastic container with the number P-8827 inside the USDA’s inspection mark, you might be in trouble.
The salad, distributed by Willow Tree Poultry Farm in Attelboro, Mass., was mislabeled.
That’s a cause for concern as tuna is a known food allergen. According to the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, symptoms of fish allergy could include hives, nausea, indigestion, stuffy noses, and in the worst case, anaphylaxis, a life-threatening allergic reaction that impedes breathing and needs immediate medical attention.
