If “HBO’s Catherine the Great” isn’t enough to convince you on the spot, know this: Catherine the Great overthrew her own husband in a coup, then established Russia as a powerhouse on the global stage. She remained in power for 34 years and to this day remains the country’s longest-serving female leader.
